WHY FISHING?
Taught by the ‘Old school’ and classically trained in the basics of understanding fish, their habitat and how to catch them, I would like to share my knowledge and experience with you. My aim is to introduce newcomers to fishing (angling), this rewarding and fascinating sport, coach others in ways to improve and to prescribe anglings healing qualities to those in need. No other outdoor activity connects the participant with nature quite like angling.
THERE’S MORE TO FISHING THAN FISH
Time spent by the waters edge is immersive and engaging with proven benefits for physical and mental wellbeing.
Our canals, streams, rivers and ponds are home to over 30 different species of fish. Diverse in shape, colour and behaviour – from the tiny minnow to huge wise old carp.
For a chance to catch one of these beautiful wild creatures, come along and learn about the tackle and techniques needed to find
them, feed them, catch, and return them safely.

SOMETHING IN THE WATER
Luckily for me, my love of angling, interest in fish and the natural world didn’t come about by chance. My Grandad Fred Egerton was a renowned angler, fish conservationist and president of the local club. My dad Ron, a keen fisherman, was also a water bailiff at the club.
With this pedigree, it was no wonder that growing up my desire to talk about angling and go fishing at every opportunity was embraced and encouraged.
EXPERIENCE
Over the last 40 or so years, I have studied and practiced all aspects and disciplines of angling including traditional coarse, game (fly) and sea fishing. I have nearly 200 books on angling, collect vintage tackle and once created my very own fishing pond.
I have coarse and fly fished in Ireland, fly fished for salmon and trout in Scotland, enjoy sea fished around Anglesey and have pursued large carp in Northern France.
